Acknowledging his strong desire to make a difference for others through his work, John left a successful for-profit career and started working with non-profits, first joining DePaul Industries in 1997 where he operated four business lines that employed 850 people with disabilities. Five years later, John joined HOST Development as Executive Director where he created first time home buyer opportunities for low income families. John grew HOST to the largest nonprofit affordable ownership provider in the state, with a staff of eight that built 300 homes. After leaving HOST, John led Oregon Opportunity Network, a statewide association of non-profits providing homes and services to low income Oregonians. There John increased member’s influence and impact at the local, state and federal levels and implemented programs that increased their capacity to better serve their clients.

Since January 2015 John has offered Organizational Development and Transition Services assistance to non-profits as a consultant. His clients include Cedar Sinai Park, Passive House Northwest, Human Solutions, Smile Oregon, Clackamas County, The Inn Home, Enhabit, OregonHousing and Community Services, and Growing Gardens. John is also a licensed Principal Real Estate Broker and serves first time buyers and non-profits seeking to create affordable housing.

A fifth generation Oregonian, John is dedicated to helping non-profits improve during times of transition and achieve mission and operational success.
